Something I just realized this chapter - Hancock is pretty much ALWAYS shown standing and looking down in her appearances. When she’s seated, it’s only on her throne (with the exception of the bath). When BB grabs her, she’s still looking down on him.
The ONLY exceptions to this are Luffy (for obvious reasons), but notably, Rayleigh as well. I love that in this Picture.
Hancock’s relationship with |
Where Hancock leans on Rayleigh’s leg, Oda clicked into place for me that she probably sees him as a father figure in a lot of ways. He safely brought her and her sisters to Amazon Lily after their escape from years of slavery. He’s in a relationship with the former pirate empress. He immediately came to fight off the marines (and BB) when he found out the news about the warlords.
Before Luffy, he was the first and only man she trusted and didn’t hate.
Idk, maybe I’m reading into shit too much, but it’s so impressive how Oda can flesh out these characters and their relationships so deeply and believably even though they get very little screen time over the course of the whole story.
