Based on a Cinema Today report, Monday, September 5, 2022, One Piece Red has earned a revenue of 12.953 billion yen or about 92.17 million US dollars. The film has so far sold at least 9,298,000 tickets.
Last weekend, on September 3-4, 2022, One Piece Red was ranked first at the Japanese box office. In those two days, One Piece Red sold 498,000 tickets with a revenue of 697 million yen or about 4.96 million US dollars.
In fact, in the first week when it was released, One Piece Red also ranked first at the Japanese box office. At least 1.58 million tickets were sold in the first two days with an income of 2.254 billion yen or 16.7 million US dollars.
The film earned 78 percent more in the first two days compared to the previous One Piece film, One Piece: Stampede.
With this achievement, One Piece Red is listed as the 21st highest-grossing film of all time in Japan. In addition, this film is also listed as the ninth highest-grossing anime film of all time in Japan.
The story in the One Piece Red film centers on a new character named Uta. Uta is the son of the captain of the Red Hair Pirates, Shanks, who is also the character that inspired Luffy to become a pirate.
